This is the most common requirement when it comes to tow truck driver job advertisements, as it is the CE driving license that allows you to drive a C category car and a trailer with a maximum weight of more than 750 kg. Like the usual category B licenses, categories C and CE must be obtained after completing a course at a driving school and passing exams at the „Regitra”. You can get these categories at the age of 18 (if you have a professional qualification to transport goods) or 21 (if you do not have a special education for this). If you do not yet have a permit to drive C, CE category cars, it can be obtained in various ways. Depending on what driving privileges you currently hold, you can complete the C and CE category courses and pass the test, or complete the combined C, CE and D (passenger) category training and pass the relevant test. It all depends on your wishes and future plans. Some driving schools offer discounts if you choose to take more than one category at once. Discounts are also offered if the long-distance driver chooses to hold a code 95 license in addition to the corresponding category.

This is a certificate of professional qualification that is necessary in EU countries to engage in commercial activities in the transport of goods or passengers. This certificate is required for drivers of tow trucks, lorries, as well as drivers of passenger buses, etc. The fact of having this license is recorded on your driver’s license, so after completing this course and passing the theoretical and practical exams, you need to change your driver’s license in the „Registry” so that the possession of this license is recorded on your license and its validity date is indicated. The code 95 is valid for 5 years, every so long you need to update the information (listen to the course) and familiarize yourself with the changes (if any). During these courses, drivers are introduced to the rules of securing loads, the driver’s work and rest regime, various risks, their assessment, prevention, etc. are discussed. Although it may appear that this is just a formality, especially new drivers can learn a lot of useful things during the course.

Long-distance drivers use tachographs, special digital devices designed to control drivers’ work and rest mode. The tachograph records driving speed, duration, control data and other data. Work/rest is recorded by the driver by inserting or removing the tachograph card. This card can be of 4 types: workshop (it can be used by a tachograph manufacturer, repair shop, etc.), control (it is issued to institutions that regulate the activities of long-distance drivers and companies employing them), company (issued to companies that have at least one vehicle with a tachograph) and driver. Drivers are issued with a personal card, which can only be used by one person. The card is valid for 5 years. The same driver can have only one valid card if you received such a card in another EU country – it will be valid in Lithuania as well, and vice versa – a card issued in Lithuania is valid throughout the EU.
